Stay S.A.F.E.R.® Method for De-escalation

Whether anger is a result of psychosis, intoxication, frustration, invalidation, neglect or other drivers, there are easy to apply strategies informed by robust learnings, that are effective when working with angry clients. We will explore research findings related to anger, the escalation cycle and introduce the highly effective, the Stay S.A.F.E.R.® method.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Identify influencing factors for risky, demanding, provocative and challenging behaviours
  • Understand the factors that influence a more functional engagement with people impacted by a history of trauma and relationship dysfunction
  • Deconstruct relationship challenges faced and common traps and pitfalls in our response
  • Implement an effective process for an enhanced functional and emotionally contained relationship engagement.

Design

Training can be delivered in various modalities, as required to meet your organisation’s specific needs, including:

  • in person half day or full day workshops
  • live online seminars
  • a ‘Train the Trainer’ program which has significant cost savings

The core training can be supported by ongoing, optional Communities of Practice sessions:

  • hour long, online sessions
  • facilitating ‘learning into practice’,
  • addressing key challenges related to de-escalation
  • working through scenarios relevant to the learnings from the core training.
